THE STORY:

EDIT: On my way! Follow me here! And on Twitter!

2 million kids are currently in the commercial sex trade.36 million people are enslaved in forced labor situations. This occurs most frequently in parts of the world where police officers are people to stay away from, not seek out for help. According to the UN, 4 billion people live outside the protection of the law. Those enslaved have no recourse to justice. That sucks! What doesn’t suck isInternational Justice Mission. IJM consists of lawyers who legally represent people who have no one to speak for them. They are social workers who help liberated people get on their feet and start a new life.

So naturally I decided to ride my unicycle really far! Partly to raise awareness about the global situation and this awesome organization and partly just as a personal challenge, I will be riding the Great Divide Bike Route on a unicycle. I will start in mid-July and finish near the end of September having ridden 2768 miles and climbed over 200,000 feet in elevation.

If you’re just loaded down with all those dollar bills, you can check out my other crowdrise page and help me out with gear for the ride! Muchas gracias! crowdrise.com/gear.

FAQ:

  • You’re crazy.

Why thank you! Not really a question though…

  • How do you ride uphill?

Think of it like a fixed gear bike. The wheel size determines the gear ratio. So I go up hills just like someone on a BMX bike.

  • Are you going with a group?

Nope. I will be alone. Completely alone. I’m hoping I don’t start talking to volleyballs or anything. Still, while the route is quite remote, it does pass through a large number of towns so I won’t be entirely without human contact.

  • Will you be carrying a backpack?

Yes, I will have a backack with food, sleeping bag, tent, etc.

  • How long have you known how to unicycle?

About 10 years.
