There’s A New Phantom In Town!

THERE’S A NEW PHANTOM IN TOWN!

A unique opportunity to support and attend HRH Prince Charles, The Prince of Wales, Prince’s Trust Charity Event

London based theatrical company, The Ministry of Entertainment, have launched a Kickstarter rewards campaign to fund comedy classic, THE PHANTOM RASPBERRY BLOWER OF OLD LONDON TOWN, that will have its world stage premiere in London’s West End, on Friday, 30th October in aid of HRH Prince Charles, The Prince of Wales, Prince’s Trust charity. The company are setting out to raise £25,000 (US$40,000).

THE PHANTOM RASPBERRY BLOWER OF OLD LONDON TOWN was the final script, originally conceived and written by “the Godfather of modern comedy” the man to whom even Monty Python don’s his hat – Spike Milligan – who originally intended it as a final reunion for the legendary Goons – that is Milligan, Sir Harry Secombe and Hollywood superstar, Peter Sellers.  But it was never recorded, as Sellers Hollywood career had taken off with The Pink Panther series of movies.

The script was then co-adapted by Milligan and British comedy great, Ronnie Barker, and was broadcast as an eight part serial on BBC TV’s The Two Ronnies. But now, The Ministry of Entertainment are now bringing it to the stage, as Spike Milligan originally intended – the final Goon Show Reunion of all – THE PHANTOM RASPBERRY BLOWER OF OLD LONDON TOWN, which will include previously unused material from the abandoned Goon Show, for a whole new generation to enjoy.

From the darkest annals of Victorian England, comes a lurid tale of folks, jokes… and cloaks! Chaos and comedy abound when a lone madman, stalks the streets of foggy London, bringing discomfort and disgust to everyone, in probably the most outrageous way, imaginable to man (…and it’s not Jack-the-Ripper – he’s away on a course!).

The world stage premiere is being held at the St. James Theatre Studio in London’s West End (just a stone’s throw from Buckingham Palace). HRH Prince Charles is a lifelong Goon fan, and is the Honorary Patron of The Goon Show Preservation Society.  Now, Kickstarter investors will have an opportunity to support THE PHANTOM RASPBERRY BLOWER OF OLD LONDON TOWN, and through it, Prince Charles own charity, The Prince’s Trust.

The Prince’s Trust supports 13-30 year olds. Its programmes give young people the practical and financial support they need to stabilise their lives. They help develop their key skills, confidence and motivation, enabling young people to move into work, education, or training.

The proceeds from the world stage premiere gala performance will be donated to that performance and as a reward, Kickstarter investors can be at the premiere and even attend the after-show celebration with it star studded guests and members of the cast.
