KineticIV are four young talented South African’s who are impacting young people across the Cape Flats through their amazing blend of rap, singing and dance.

As The Message Trust grows in South Africa, it is essential that we ‘keep mission hot’, using innovative ways to reach more and more young people with the Gospel.

We recognised the potential that the creative arts can have when the Concrete Apostles performed at the Message South Africa launch event in February 2014. Their dance performance was explosive and demonstrated the level of talent that young people have in South Africa. In response, Andy Hawthorne (Founder & CEO Message UK) immediately offered four scholarship places for young South Africans to attend the Message Academy in Manchester. And there began the process of recruiting our first South Africa mission team.

The recruitment process was supported by local radio station CCFM and took four months. After an extensive advertising campaign, eight young candidates came to audition. Following the audition and interview, the final four were chosen in September 2014 and consist of two rappers (Justin and Jabulani), a dancer (Gilead) and a singer (Meryl). The audition/interview panels were extremely excited by the complementary giftedness of the chosen four.

In January 2015, the team travelled to the UK to join the Message Academy and receive intensive mission and creative development training. During this period the group became KineticIV, and gained performance and mission experience.

KineticIV returned to South Africa in July 2015 and will serve with us as our full-time mission team. They will be available to serve churches across Cape Town. KineticIV will have a huge role to play in our frontline-Kingdom work. They will present the Gospel in a relevant way to thousands of teenagers; strengthening the arm of local churches. They will also deliver life-skills classes that will enable young people to discover a positive purpose in life rather than getting involved in gangsterism. KineticIV will work alongside our partner churches, Eden and prison-based teams as we seek to raise generations of Urban Heroes who will truly bring transformation to communities across this city.
