BUILDING A COMMUNITY CENTER AT BAHIA SOLANO – COLOMBIA

Dear friends, 

People in Bahia Solano live in extreme poverty. It’s true that they have some of the most amazing beaches on earth, but the continuous social unrest surrounding this place has not allowed its people to have access to basic things such as clean water, a permanent food supply, basic health care and education. To make things worse, one of every 5 children in this small town has been forced to flee from their homes due to guerrilla violence.

We have been blessed with many things, that’s why we want to give back to the people that most need it.

So, first of all we met with the locals at Bahia Solano and discussed their needs. Community leaders were very helpful and honest pointing out that they needed access to basic health care and a place for the local children and adults to meet and receive classes, training, etc. 

We then went back to the drawing board and came up with the idea of a community center that could benefit the whole population, where locals could learn from trained personnel about fishing, agriculture, construction, etc. and transfer this knowledge to everyone around. With a group of friends who actually know about construction and these things, the plan is to go and build the best community center possible. We also want to donate as many books and educational material that we can for the children and adults of Bahia Solano. 

We will also be providing basic medical care by specialists for one week and improve the conditions of the local medical center.

We’re not a big NGO or anything like that, we’re just a group of young people trying to give a little bit back. So if you can help us build a better future for Bahia Solano, please do.
