ART + SCIENCE | MY TOMORROW
I am a London based artist, born in South London and raised in Somerset by a single parent. My art practice includes work with photography, inflatable sculpture, ceramics, writing, illustration and sound. My work is experimental, devoted and detached. I look at spatial etiquette, hiding places and welcomed loss. I have applied to start a masters course in Art and Science this Autumn at Central St Martins, University of the Arts. I’ve chosen this field because I feel this will support my future career in arts and media, combining tradition arts with technology. My areas of interest include: crowd dynamics, spatial planning for arts buildings and mental health mapping of artists.
Why am I asking for support? I am currently a part time associate lecturer and also work part time in several London venues. These positions only supply a small income which covers my basic living costs. Any funding I receive would make a real difference to my career and would help me develop creative projects to help others. My long term goal is to open my own small venue with a programme of emerging art, film and theatre. I would support young people who are looking to gain employment experience, by training them in ticketing, curating and production management within the venue. Any funds I raise above my tuition costs will help to start my educational venue. I am currently in collaboration with a Liverpool arts venue developing training for young people who want to learn practical skills in the arts as a step closer to finding my own venue space.
Where will the money go?
I’ve already secured 50% of my fees through scholarships and now need to raise:
£4250 – Tuition fees
£150 – Paypal fee of 3.5% for processing the donation total
Living costs during study – I will continue to support myself through part time employment
Total = £4400
