LumiPocket LT: A Revolutionary Personal Fabricator: An high quality, Resin-based 3D Printer, a Laser Engraver and a PCB Etching machine: all in a compact, affordable, standalone device!

LumiPocket LT:  a Revolutionary Personal Fabricator

LumiPocket LT is the first multi-purpose, SCARA-based, Light curing 3D Printer. It is an affordable, standalone, compact tool that can take your Maker projects to a new level! It is more than “just” a high quality, resin based 3D Printer: it is also a fast PCB etching machine, and a Laser engaver that can work with many different materials!

We can’t wait to see how our customers will use LumiPocket LT to create entire projects, for example by 3D printing the enclosure of a custom shaped led light, then creating the Pcb that will control its circuit, and finally laser etching a cardboard box with a name and a dedication for the ultimate DIY gift!

What does SCARA mean?

The SCARA acronym stands for Selective Compliance Articulated Robot Arm. Its main advantage is the jointed two-link arm; this feature allows the arm to extend into confined areas and then retract or “fold up” out of the way. We modified this design so it can cover all the printing area with the smallest possible footprint. This system allows also good quality and speed; normally its main drawback is that controlling this arm involves inverse kinematics for linear interpolated moves. However, the software we designed takes care of all this and is completely transparent to the user!

Your first light-curing, resin-based 3d Printer

Light-curing, Resin-based 3d Printing is fast and provides much more quality than FDM 3D printers, specially with 3d models with small details.

LumiPocket LT is a UV laser based 3D printer, with a resolution of up to 50 microns on the Z and 100 microns on XY axis. Run our cross-platform Software, slice your 3D model (binary or ascii .Stl file), and save the printing job to an SD card: insert it into the LumiPocket LT, it will do all the rest!

The maximum printing size is 10 cm diameter by 10 cm high; on LumiPocket LT we suggest our LumiReact resins, however it is also compatible with SpotA, MakerJuice, FunToDo, 3D Materials and Bukytown Polymers UV pigmented resins.

A fast PCB etcher

Ever wanted to make a custom PCB? Of course you can make it “the old way”, by printing the mask with a laser printer, aligning the PCB board, than exposing to a UV lamp.. but why not just put a presensitized PCB board into LumiPocket LT’s special tray, import your PCB files, and watch it etch your PCB that is then ready to be developed? Quick and easy! Please note that at the moment the resolution of the current prototype is not enough for SMDs based PCBs, but works for standard (pass-through) PCBs.

A compact laser marker & engraver

LumiPocket LT can engrave many different materials using the integrated UV laser. This feature is very useful for example if you want to create business cards, QR codes, coasters, and much more. We tested many materials, including MDF, wood, expanded PVC, heavy cardboard and leather.

Both raster and vector mode are supported by our software. In raster mode, you can load any image (bmp, jpg, gif, png) and it will be converted into and 8 bit grayscale dataset that will be engraved on desired surface. In vector mode, you can load any .svg vector file and get more precise lines and text.

What are the main advantages and specifications?

LumiPocket LT is a unique machine: it is designed to have a very low power consumption, using less than 5W. It has a very compact size: 20 x 12 x 38 cm, weighting less than 2Kg. It is completely autonomous, so after you have created a printing / engraving / etching job with our software, you can simply insert the SD card into the LumiPocket LT and it will do all the rest, turning off after the work is done.

Rewards

Please remember that for any pledge amount, you are not just buying a product, you are also helping make high quality 3D printing accessible for everyone, from professionals to Makers.

Shipping costs are specified for each perk, and include a standard trackable shipping service. Import duties taxes and charges are not included in the item price or shipping.

Your support is important! Even if you are not interested at this time in LumiPocket LT, you can pledge 30€ and you will receive a wonderful 3D Printed litohpane from a photo of your choice. The quality is incredible, and you have to see it in person!

Safety

LumiPocket LT uses an UV laser rated at 200mW; it is not a very powerful laser, however it is very important to provide adeguate shielding. We used a plexiglass cylinder with and UV blocking film for our current prototype, with a safety mechanism that turns off the laser if the shield is opened.

Distributors

If you are interested in becoming distributor or reseller of LumiPocket LT, feel free to contact us at info@lumindustries.com and we will contact you by the end of the campaign.

Schedule

Since this is not our first time producing a 3D Printer after a crowdfunding campaign, we already know what are the main milestones during the process that starts from an idea (and a working prototype) and ends when the last perk has been shipped. Below you can find how we plan to produce LumiPocket LT after the campaign.

We got this badge from Dragon Innovation, stating that we are on track for a solid development and production plan.

Team

Davide and Manuela are Lumi Industries’ founders.
R&D is coordinated by Marin Davide, CEO and founder. Andrea helped us in the technical and electrical design. Sisto Girardi is our consultant for patents and administration; Vicenza Thunders is our main consultant for electronical design and engineeing. Administration, customer care, support and dealing with suppliers is managed by Manuela, co-founder. Dimitri is a freelance videomaker that helped us making the video of this campaign, Enrico did all the special effects, while Giorgio helped us with the planning.

Many collaborators have helped us during this months and we would like to thank them all for their precious support!

A special thank to Francesca, Simone & Romina, Enrico, Michela Valentina, Fabio L.,Nuvola, Nusca and  Paolo, Colette, Tifu,Mel and to all our friends and backers of previous Lumifold and Lumipocket campaign for their support and for believing in us!
