American Idiot Musical

Having been involved in numerous musicals over the years I finally decided that I wanted to put on my own show! So in July 2016 i am planning on performing the Green Day musical ‘American Idiot’ 

I want to involve a wide range of the local community and give everyone a chance at not only performing but also helping backstage or front of house. For the musicians I want to ask local students at Perth College who are on a Performance Course to play which gives them experience and a focus.

American Idiot is a sung-through stage adaptation of punk rock band Green Day’s rock opera, American Idiot. The story, expanded from that of the concept album, centers on three disaffected young men, Johnny, Will, and Tunny. Johnny and Tunny flee a stifling suburban lifestyle and parental restrictions, while Will stays home to work out his relationship with his pregnant girlfriend, Heather. The former pair look for meaning in life and try out the freedom and excitement of the city. Tunny quickly gives up on life in the city, joins the military, and is shipped off to war. Johnny turns to drugs and finds a part of himself that he grows to dislike, has a relationship and experiences lost love.

We have a fantastic local Campus where the performance will take place over two nights. Again, local community members will be asked to help front of house and backstage.

This will be entirely non-profit and all the funding will be used towards the cost of licence, venue hire, musicians and promotion.
